Music has the power to engage, stimulate, regenerate and heal. In a hospital or care home environment it can create a point of connection beyond illness or vulnerability. Music can lift the spirits of patients, staff and visitors. Using music as therapy can also be a very powerful way to reach people, and can be a way in which to help people express their feelings.
Sarah has been fortunate to be able to work in care homes, residential homes and hospices throughout the North West. She worked with the new initiative 'Music and Health' in 2005-2006 which involved a collaboration between musicians from Britain, France and Ireland. With LIME and the Royal Northern College of Music, the Da Capo Duo has also performed in hospitals in Greater Manchester and the North of England.
Since 2005, Sarah has worked for Lost Chord (see link to the left) and more recently has successful auditioned for Music in Hospitals, and now working for the North West office (see link to the left).
Sarah has a large and varied repertoire list to cater for different occasions, and programmes may include interaction such as dancing, singing and movement. Each concert is designed specifically for the needs of the patients.
Sarah is always keen to speak to people who may be interested in having the Da Capo Duo or her other chamber groups perform in a care home or hospital, and would be more than happy to discuss any proposals. Please see the contact page for contact information.
